As Imam Ahmed was quite old, the caretaker had to drag him out of the mosque. On seeing this, a baker from a nearby place felt pity for this man (Imam Ahmed) and offered to be the host to him for the night. During his stay with the baker, Imam Ahmed observed that the baker would constantly recite Istighfar (seek forgiveness from Allah). Astaghfirullah is the most powerful dua. People often forget the importance of the simple yet powerful dua (supplication) – Istighfar i.e., saying “Astaghfirullah” (I seek forgiveness of Allah). It is the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to seek Istaghfar 100 times daily. What is the difference between Istighfar and Astaghfirullah? Meaning. “Istighfar” means to pray to Allah that He may protect the supplicant from the evil consequences and poisonous influences of their transgressions and misdeeds, both in this world and the hereafter. Astaghfirullah literally translates to “I seek forgiveness in God”. T his story about “Istighfar” is from the life of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal, who is considered as a renowned scholar of Islam and a famous theologian. Imam Ahmed is also considered to be the founder of the Hanbali school of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and is one of the most celebrated Sunni theologians, often referred to as the “Sheikh ul-Islam” or the “Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah.” (bismillah) The Prophet pbuh (and also, I presume the ahlulbayt (as) ) used to say 'astaghfirullah wa atubu ilayh' many times a day. I once heard the reasons for why the prophet would be asking Allah for forgiveness, when he is infallible, and there is nothing to forgive.However.I don't rememb UDNFnR.
